Collaborative Study Rooms – Update

Welcome all returning students! Hope you enjoyed the Summer. No doubt you’ll be anxious to get working on projects asap. To facilitate this, we have increased the number of collaborative study rooms available for a two hour period.  They are rooms:  1, 3,4, 5,13,14,15,16,17 and 18!

New, improved version of Write-N-Cite available

Write-N-Cite III is now available and has been installed on all student PCs in the Library.

The old version of Write-N-Cite is still supported and will continue to work.

Benefits of Write-N-Cite III:

• Insert citations and format Word documents offline. Simply connect to the Internet once to retrieve your references. Then you can log off and work on your paper offline.
• Easier to format, unformat and reformat documents – no more confusion between draft and final documents.

Search CAB Abstracts through Web of Knowledge

DCU Library now has trial access to CAB Abstracts on the Web of Knowledge interface.

You can either search CAB on its own or select All Databases so you can access CAB with all these resources simultaneously:

• Web of Science
• BIOSIS Previews
• ISI Proceedings
• Derwent Innovations Index

CAB Abstracts is a applied life sciences database containing records of over 9,000 journals, books and conference proceedings. You can still search CAB Abstracts on its own through CAB Direct.

The Web of Knowledge/CAB Abstracts trial will continue until Friday, December 5, 2008. Would you like the Library to continue this service? Contact jack.hyland@dcu.ie and let us know what you think.

Welcome New Students!

We’re delighted to welcome all new students to DCU Library and wish you every success in your studies here. We provide excellent learning facilities as well as access to a wealth of information both online and in print. To help you familiarise yourself with all we have to offer we are running tours and training sessions and library staff are on hand to answer all your questions.
