Amazon Kindle

Amazon recently announced the details of their latest product – the fantastically named Amazon Kindle.

Amazon have always been innovators. Much more than an online book shop, they have developed software:

  • to allow us to read selected pages from our prospective purchases (Search inside)
  • to list the titles that other people who bought this book have also purchased
  • to let us create and read reviews from “real” people
  • to create lists of our favourite titles for others to browse

And now they’ve developed Kindle. It’s a handheld, lightweight piece of kit that’s “entirely new—a convenient, portable reading device with the ability to wirelessly download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers.”

I can’t wait to get my hands on this!

What do you think? Could Amazon Kindle do for reading what the Ipod has done for music?

Its got a really good staorage capability, and it looks really light and portable – and i love that it downloads newspapers and blogs automatically. Having said that thouigh, I reckon we will be waiting a while before it hits this side of the Atlantic though…
